4X4X4

The 4X4X4 evening concludes a creative experiment where 4 members of the collective take on the role of choreographer, each creating a solo on another dancer around a randomly assigned theme.

NL: Tijdens de COVID-19 crisis hebben we Lazy Susan & Co opgericht en creëerden we ons eerste evenement 4X4X4 als aftrap van ons eerste seizoen als nieuw danscollectief. 4X4X4 [4 choreografen, 4 dansers, 4 ruimtes] was het resultaat van een maand lang experimenteren en creëren, waarbij 4 leden van het collectief de rol van choreograaf op zich namen en choreografeerden rondom een toegewezen thema, met de ruimte als leidende rol. Tijdens een reis door de verschillende oude klaslokalen van De Studio Rotterdam nam het publiek een kijkje in de vier werelden gecreëerd door Lazy Susans dansmakers.

Omdat we onze voorstelling maar voor een beperkt publiek konden spelen willen we heel graag 4X4X4 als evenement herhalen. Deze keer met vier gloednieuwe hedendaagse dansstukken met andere rol en thema-verdelingen, op basis van een verloting. We grijpen de kans om met deze tweede editie nieuwe stukken te creëren waarbij onze choreografen en dansers meer tijd en ruimte hebben om onderzoek te doen en het verder ontwikkelen van hun talenten. 4X4X4 biedt de makers en dansers een kans om collectief, impulsief en spontaan in een onbegrensde ruimte te experimenteren. Innovatie, talentontwikkeling, experiment, creativiteit en impulsiviteit vormen de centrale waarden en kenwoorden voor deze voorstellingen en voor Lazy Susan & Co als collectief.

Met deze voorstellingen willen we het publiek van Rotterdam een andere en nieuwe (in)kijk geven op hedendaagse dans. Dit doen we onder andere door het presenteren we vier korte danstukken en door het de voorstelling in een andere setting te positioneren dan het gebruikelijke theater, namelijk in het karaktervolle, prachtige, oude schoolgebouw in het Oude Noorden van Rotterdam. De voorstelling zal bestaan uit vier korte hedendaagse dansstukken elk van 20 minuten gebaseerd op vier hedendaagse concepten. Deze zullen een reis vormen door de oude lokalen van het gebouw.

ENG: During the COVID-19 crisis, we founded Lazy Susan & Co and created our first event 4X4X4 to kick off our first season as a new dance collective. 4X4X4 [4 choreographers, 4 dancers, 4 spaces] was the result of a month of experimentation and creation, in which 4 members of the collective assumed the role of choreographer and worked with an assigned theme, with the space as the guiding lead. During a journey through the various old classrooms of De Studio Rotterdam, the audience took a look at the four worlds created by Lazy Susan's dance makers. It was an evening where experiment, creativity and impulsivity were central.

Since we could only play our show for a limited audience, we want to repeat 4X4X4 as an event. This time with four brand new contemporary dance pieces with different roles and themes, based on a raffle. With this second edition, we seize the opportunity to create new pieces in which our choreographers and dancers have more time and space to do research and further develop their talents. 4X4X4 offers the makers and dancers an opportunity to experiment collectively, impulsively and spontaneously in an unlimited space. Innovation, talent development, experimentation, creativity and impulsivity are the central values ​​and keywords for these performances and for Lazy Susan & Co as a collective.

With these performances, we want to give the public of Rotterdam a different and new view on contemporary dance. We do this, among other things, by presenting four short dance pieces and by positioning the performance in a different setting than the usual theatre, namely in the characterful, beautiful, old school building in the Oude Noorden of Rotterdam. The performance will consist of four short contemporary dance pieces of 20 minutes each, based on four contemporary concepts. This will be a journey through the building's old rooms.

LAZY SUSAN & CO

Lazy Susan & Co is een danscollectief in Rotterdam bestaande uit 11 hedendaagse dansprofessionals. Lazy Susan & Co is een collectief dat functioneert als een productieplatform voor dansvoorstellingen gemaakt door de leden. De structuur van het collectief is niet-hiërarchisch wat inhoudt dat we de artistieke en administratieve rollen om de beurt op ons nemen. Het idee voor Lazy Susan & Co is ontstaan vanuit een gedeelde interesse om een onafhankelijk platform te creëren waar de artistieke ideeën van hedendaagse danskunstenaars in Rotterdam tot uitvoering gebracht kunnen worden.

Lazy Susan & Co is a dance collective in Rotterdam consisting of 11 contemporary dance professionals. Lazy Susan & Co is a collective that functions as a production platform for dance performances created by its members. The structure of the collective is non-hierarchical, meaning that we take turns taking on artistic and administrative roles. The idea for Lazy Susan & Co arose from a shared interest to create an independent platform where the artistic ideas of contemporary dance artists in Rotterdam can be put into practice.
