EEN BUURT WORDT EEN GALERIE
De pandemie heeft de essentie van kunstbeleving op veel niveaus op de proef gesteld. Voor kunstenaars en kunstliefhebbers zijn het frustrerende tijden geweest. Online alternatieven vormen een belangrijke bron voor het genieten van kunst, maar ze zijn niet de oplossing, en zeker niet voor iedereen. Door het heruit te vinden van gebruik van private en publieke ruimten, is Offline Amulets for Bellamy een kunsttentoonstelling die kunst en mensen opnieuw wil samenbrengen in het kader van de alledaagse drukte van het leven in een buurt.

Een solotentoonstelling van de Italiaanse kunstenaar Daniele Scauso, georganiseerd in samenwerking met bewoners en buurtinitiatieven, zal de straten van de Bellamybuurt transformeren in een unieke openlucht galerie die 24/7 open is voor iedereen om van te genieten. In dialoog met lokale architectonische elementen, zoals de iconische hijsbalken, ramen en tuinen van lokale huizen, zijn de metalen sculpturen en site-specifieke installaties van de kunstenaar een viering van de buurt zelf.

Als amuletten - objecten met het doel te verfraaien en te beschermen - zullen de kunstwerken twee maanden lang het leven van de buurt sieren, kijkend naar de bewoners en het gemeenschapsleven: tekens van het belang van de aanwezigheid van kunst in het dagelijks leven van mensen.

STEUN DIT INITIATIVE
Een straattentoonstelling die meerdere straten en meer dan 10 locaties beslaat is een grote onderneming: iets wat alleen haalbaar is met collectieve actie!
Of u nu in de buurt woont of van elders uit de wereld komt, u kunt bijdragen om kunst naar het echte leven van een gemeenschap te brengen en de weldoener worden van een kunsttentoonstelling. Uw donatie zal dienen om de verschillende kosten te dekken die verbonden zijn aan de realisatie van het project, waaronder:

- de voorbereiding van de verschillende sculpturen voor hun buiteninstallatie;
- het installatie-team en de kosten om aan alle veiligheidseisen te voldoen;
- promotiecampagne en -materiaal (flyers en posters);
- ontwerp en voorbereiding van de routebeschrijving en hand-outs;
- een publicatie over de tentoonstelling, de kunstwerken en de mensen die het mogelijk hebben gemaakt.

KORT VERHAAL OVER DANIELE SCAUSO EN DE BELLAMYBUURT
In maart 2015, toen Daniele Scauso op zoek was naar een atelierruimte in Amsterdam, ontmoette hij Bert Meister, wiens familie al sinds 1906 als smid werkzaam is in de Bellamystraat. Vandaag de dag vormen zij samen het Atelier Meister-Scauso: een zeldzame creatieve ruimte waar kunst, ambacht en gemeenschap samenkomen in het hart van Amsterdam. Daniele maakt deel uit van Bellamy Mannenkoor en is sinds oktober 2020 vrijwilliger in de Zimmerhoeve Kinderboerderij - een van de expositielocaties voor de komende tentoostelling.

OFFLINE-Amulets for Bellamy bouwt voort op het succes van MyBellamy, de straattentoonstelling die Daniele Scauso in juni-augustus 2020 organiseerde.

A NEIGHBORHOOD BECOMES A GALLERY
The pandemic outbreak has challenged the very essence of experiencing art at so many levels. For artists and art lovers these have been frustrating times. Online alternatives represent an important resource for the enjoyment of art, but certainly they are not the solution, and definitively not for everyone.

By reinventing the use of private and public space, Offline Amulets for Bellamy is an art exhibition that aims to bring art and people back together within the framework of the every-day buzz of a neighborhood's life.

A solo exhibition by the Italian artist Daniele Scauso, organized in collaboration with residents and neighborhood’s initiatives, will transform the streets of the Bellamybuurt into a unique outdoor gallery-space open 24/7 for everyone to enjoy.

In a dialogue with local architectural elements, such as the iconic roof-hooks (hijsbalken), windows and gardens of local houses, the artist’s metal sculptures and site-specific installations are a celebration of the neighborhood itself.
Like amulets - objects with the purpose to embellish and protect - the artworks will decorate the life of the neighborhood for two months, looking upon its residents and community life: tokens of the importance of art’s presence in people’s everyday life.

SHORT STORY OF DANIELE SCAUSO AND THE BELLAMYBUURT
In March 2015, while in search of a studio space in Amsterdam, Daniele Scauso met Bert Meister, whose family has been working as blacksmith in the Bellamystraat since 1906. Today, together they form the Atelier Meister-Scauso: a rare creative space where arts, crafts and community come together in the heart of Amsterdam. Daniele is part of Bellamy Mannenkoor and since October 2020 volunteers in the Zimmerhoeve Kinder Boerderij - one of the exhibiting locations for this show.

OFFLINE-Amulets for Bellamy builds on success of MyBellamy, the street exhibition organized by Daniele Scauso in June-August 2020.
