Wie ben ik en waarom heb ik deze campagne opgericht?

Ik ben Linde Tillmanns. Ik ben pianist, maker en student aan het HKU Utrechts conservatorium. Ik studeer op 19 juni af in Cloud Nine in TivoliVredenburg. Dit is ook het debuut van mijn nieuwe project genaamd ‘In Sight’, waarin ik mijn muziek combineer met beeld en soundscapes. Van dit concert wordt ook een film gemaakt zodat we die later kunnen delen, niet alleen met jullie maar ook met boekers, zodat we in de toekomst makkelijker concerten kunnen geven. Ik heb veel tijd besteed aan dit project en kan niet wachten om het met jullie te delen, op film en hopelijk ook een beetje live. Alles brengt echter wel veel kosten met zich mee, dus heb ik jullie hulp hard nodig!

Waar gaat je donatie precies naar toe?

- Je helpt mee mij in Cloud Nine, TivoliVredenburg te krijgen (Als niet - gevestigde artiest betaal je voor de zaal, licht, geluid en productie)

- Je zorgt dat het concert vastgelegd kan worden op foto en film, en dat de video geëdit kan worden tot een concertvideo.

- Dankzij jou kan ik het team een eerlijke vergoeding geven voor hun harde werk- de band, onze producer, video-artist, fotograaf en degene die filmt!

- Een goede opname van het concert maakt het voor mij mogelijk om na de crowdfunding te kijken naar subsidies voor goede studio-opnames. Zo wordt het project ook na het concert financieel gesteund en kunnen we een half jaar na het concert een album uitbrengen.

Waarom TivoliVredenburg?

In 2018/2019 mocht ik stage lopen bij Tivoli. Ik boekte acts voor de Rabo Open Stage en was stagemanager op de avonden zelf.

Ik mocht genieten van zowel blije artiesten als een blij publiek, en heb veel ervaring opgedaan als organisator en ook als muzikant.

Het lijkt me dan ook fantastisch om mijn tijd op het conservatorium van Utrecht in Tivoli af te kunnen sluiten (en mijn leven als professioneel muzikant te kunnen beginnen!)

In Sight

Een lange tijd heb ik in een bubbel geleefd- ik was bezig mezelf te ontwikkelen als muzikant, artiest, als mens. Het nieuws en de grote thema’s van vandaag gingen aan mij voorbij. De afgelopen jaren ben ik langzaam maar zeker betrokkener geworden, ben ik meer gaan lezen en meningen gaan vormen over wat er in de wereld gaande is. Tegelijkertijd werd ik nieuwsgierig naar hoe anderen in relatie staan tot de wereld om zich heen: Betrokken en sceptisch, angstig en daardoor teruggetrokken, moedeloos, neerslachtig? Of juist optimistisch?

In Sight gaat over mijn proces van bewustwording, de confrontatie die daarbij kwam kijken, en mijn zoektocht naar een houding die optimistisch is, zonder de wereld om me heen te ontkennen. De voorstelling neemt de luisteraar mee op deze reis; van comfortabel escapisme bewegen wij langs confrontatie naar een daadkrachtig bewustzijn. Ik onderzoek de voorwaarden die nodig zijn om geëngageerd maar niet radicaal en vlijmscherp te zijn: Openheid; niet (te snel) oordelen; het zoeken naar verbinding; het plezier van speculatie, idealisme en discussies; bescheidenheid; het besef dat we niet alles hoeven te weten.

About me and why I needed to create this crowdfunding campaign:

I am Linde Tillmanns. I write music, play the piano and am currently studying at the Utrecht Conservatory. I am graduating on the 19th of june in Cloud Nine, TivoliVredenburg (the main concert hall in Utrecht). My performance is the debut of a new project called ‘In Sight’, which combines my music with visuals and soundscapes. The concert is being filmed; that way everyone can see the end result in the shape of a concert video. This is an important kickstart for the project: We can share it with bookers too, making it easier for us to play live for you in the future. I put a lot of time and effort into creating this project and cannot wait to share it with you. However, there are quite some costs involved so we could certainly use your help!

What are we using your money for exactly?

- You contribute to us being able to perform in Cloud Nine, TivoliVredenburg (We are not a household name -yet- so we pay for the concert hall ourselves)

- You make sure the concert can be documented on photo and film professionally, and that the video can be edited into a nice live concert video.

- Thanks to you I can pay everyone in my team fairly for their hard work: Four band members, the producer, the video-artist, the team documenting the concert on film and photo.

- Good concert footage makes it easier for me to apply for subsidies to record an album. In other words, your money might help attract more money from funds later, so we can continue with this project and get the music on streaming services/cd’s :)

Why TivoliVredenburg?

In 2018/2019 I was an intern at TivoliVredenburg. I curated acts for the Rabo Open Stage and took on the role as stage manager on the nights themselves. I was able to make artists that I booked as well as their audience happy, which was very rewarding. I would say I learnt a lot from it and I had a lot of fun as well. Since I got this internship through school, it only seems fitting to end my time at the conservatory in Tivoli (and begin my life as a professional musician!)

In Sight

For a long time, I was living in my own ‘bubble’- I was busy developing myself as a musician, as an artist, as a human being. I was not keeping up with the news nor was I contemplating the big topics of today’s world. The past few years I have found myself becoming more involved, more opinionated and more educated. At the same time I developed a fascination for the relationship others had with the world around them: Very aware and evenly skeptical? Scared and not wanting to know grave things that are happening? Or: aware, yet optimistic?

In Sight follows my process of becoming aware of the world around me, the confrontation with that world and with myself. And thereafter: the search for a way to not ignore things that are happening, but still seeing the glass as half full.

The performance takes the listener on a journey; travelling from comfortable escapism through confrontation, and ending in a state of being conscious, positive and pro-active. I investigate the value of being open; of being non-judgmental; the pleasure of discussing complex and interesting topics; the power of being humble; the realization that we don’t have to know it all.
