'Biological Tranny' is a project that celebrates the beauty of trans and non-binary bodies. A music and visual project that transcreates the stories of trans identities, the difficulties, struggles, resilience and empowerment.
The title is a provocative response to the many attempts by cisgender, white, normative and sexist society that insist to place themselves not as "cisgender people" but as "normal people", as "biological" men and women.
❝ Mixing, merging and evolving as a way to assimilate the new ❞
Dynamic and sensual yet political, 'Biological Tranny' will be an electronic transgenre pop album. An experimentation putting together references of hip hop, trap, house, disco, and some Brazilian styles such as tecnobrega, Brazilian funk, etc. It is also an ode to different voice performativities and multiplicity of gender expression.
The project has been in development for a year and half now and throughout this time it has taken the form of live acts and pocket shows. We are in process doing the writing, composition and pre-production of several tracks and we also have pre-released two single tracks each one followed by lyric video, Tuck 2 Me and They Will Never Know.
At this stage, it has become clear that a music album, accompanied by the production of an audiovisual work, is the final product to be created: a visual album.

Mavi Veloso
Hailing from the Brazilian Highlands, currently based in Amsterdam, Mavi is a chameleon and likes to do trannycrafts, confusing, questioning, delighting and enlightening our minds while we dance. Transdisciplinary by essence, actress, dancer, performance artist and singer, she explores performativity, the relationship between artist and audience, trans feminism, decolonization, gender politics, sexual anxiety, survival, resistance, resilience and empowerment. Sassy and versatile, in her creations she hopes to make the crowds change their perspective, converting normativity into a new, more deconstructed and diversified chaos.
