NSO De Ring: een onvergetelijk, interdisciplinair orkestproject door de combinatie van symfonische muziek en lichtkunst. Maak het mogelijk!
Het Nederlands Studentenorkest (NSO) organiseert in de zomer van 2021 een geheel coronaproof orkestproject getiteld NSO De Ring. Onze missie is om in een tijd van culturele droogte voor zowel publiek als deelnemers een spectaculair symfonisch evenement neer te zetten, omdat de magie van live muziek ervaren één van de prachtigste dingen is die men mee kan maken. Het concertprogramma, wat gedirigeerd wordt door Frans Aert Burghgraef, bestaat uit Der Ring des Nibelungen (R. Wagner) en In Transit (compositieopdraht T. van Dun). Het concert zal na toevoeging van een licht choreografie door Teus "Lumiteus" van der Stelt omgetoverd worden tot een adembenemend interdisciplinair evenement, waarin zowel de oren als de ogen getrakteerd worden op een onvergetelijke ervaring. Het toevoegen van lichtkunst aan de concertreeks van het NSO is niet alleen uniek aan NSO De Ring, maar het voegt ook een spectaculaire, visuele laag aan de concertreeks toe waardoor het NSO een interdisciplinair evenement wordt in plaats van een doorsnee symfonische tournee.
Het NSO
Het NSO is een jong en landelijk project orkest opgericht in 1952 dat ieder jaar opnieuw wordt samengesteld uit talentvolle studenten die zich naast hun studie aan een hogeschool of universiteit op hoog niveau bezighouden met klassieke muziek. Na een intensieve repetitieperiode verzorgt het NSO een grootse concertreeks. Waar normaalgesproken het project in februari plaatsvindt en traditiegetrouw de tien grote Nederlandse concertpodia worden aangedaan, is voor NSO De Ring een geheel nieuw coronaproof projectformat ontwikkeld: het project zal plaatsvinden in de zomervakantie, en de gehele concertreeks zal verzorgd worden in het Topsportcentrum Almere, waar het NSO haar eigen concertzaal inricht om zo een veilig ontvangst voor publiek én orkestleden te kunnen garanderen.
De lichtkunst
De beleving begint meteen wanneer u voet zet in de concertzaal. Lichtkunstenaar Teus zal de concertzaal vervormen tot een Walhalla aan licht en geluid terwijl over de speakers de dromerige klanken van Wagners Rheingold klinken. Gedurende het gehele concert zal de muziek van lichteffecten worden voorzien. “De Ring” zal tastbaar gemaakt worden in de vorm van een hangende ring van licht rondom het orkest met een diameter van maarliefst 22 meter (!). Dit alles zorgt ervoor dat de concertbeleving zowel een auditieve als visuele ervaring wordt die het publiek nooit zal vergeten.
Helpt u ook mee?
Het bedrag om de lichtkunst te kunnen laten ontwikkelen, de lampen te huren, de personeelskosten en techniek te regelen en de lichtshow tijdens de concertreeks te besturen, is ruim €40.000,-. Een deel wordt door het NSO zelf betaald, een deel wordt aangevraagd bij subsidieverstrekkers. Voor de overige €25.000,- is het NSO afhankelijk van donaties. Naast het bijdragen aan een onvergetelijk evenement en eeuwige dank krijgen gevers natuurlijk ook diverse tegenprestaties als dank voor hun donatie. Mocht het project wegens te strenge coronamaatregelen geen doorgang kunnen vinden in de zomer, dan krijgt u uiteraard uw geld terug.

NSO The Ring: an unforgettable, interdisciplinary orchestral project that combines symphonic music and lighting art. Make it happen!
The Dutch National Student Orchestra (NSO) organises a completely covid proof orchestral project named NSO The Ring during the summer of 2021. Our mission is to realise a spectacular symphonic event in times of cultural drought for both the audience as well as the participants. This is because the magic of experiencing live music is one of the most beautiful things that one can experience. The programme, which is conducted by Frans Aert Burghgraef, consists of Der Ring des Nibelungen (R. Wagner) and In Transit (new composition by T. Van Dun), to which a lighting choreography by Teus “Lumiteus” van der Stelt will be added. This will turn our concerts into breathtaking interdisciplinary events, during which both ears and eyes will be presented with an unforgettable experience. Adding lighting art to NSO’s concert series is not only unique to NSO The Ring, but it also adds a spectacular, visual layer to the concert series, making the NSO an interdisciplinary event instead of a run-of-the-mill symphonic tour.
The NSO
The NSO is a young and national project orchestra founded in 1952 that takes place every year and is composed of talented students that are, besides studying at a university or college, high-quality amateur classical musicians. After an intensive rehearsing period, NSO hosts a large concert series. Usually, the project takes place in February during which, true to tradition, the NSO plays in the ten largest Dutch concert halls. NSO The Ring, however, is a newly developed covid proof project: the project will take place during the summer break, and the whole concert series will take place in Topsportcentrum Almere, an enormous hall that is usually used as a top-class sports centre. The NSO will equip their own concert hall there, to ensure a safe environment for both audience and orchestra members.
The lighting art
The experience starts immediately after setting foot in the concert hall. Light composer Teus will turn the concert hall into a Walhalla of light and sound whilst the speakers play the dreamy tones of Wagner’s Reingold. During the whole concert, light effects will be added to the music. “The Ring” will be made concrete by placing a hanging ring of light with a diameter of 22 metres (!) around the orchestra. All of this will ensure that the concert experience will be both an auditive as a visual experience that the audience will never forget.
We need your support! The amount of money needed to have the light art developed, to hire the lamps, to pay for the staff expenses and materials, and to have the light choreography run during the concert series, is 40,000 euros. This will partly be financed by the NSO, and public and private funds. The remaining 25.000 euros will depend on the donations to this crowdfunding. Besides contributing to an unforgettable event and receiving our eternal gratitude, several rewards are available, to thank you for your donation. If the project is canceled because of the covid measures in place during the summer, you will of course receive your money back.

Sfeervolle lichtkunst door Teus van der Stelt
Met €15000,- kan onze lichtkunstenaar, Teus, de concertzaal sfeervol verlichten. Dit houdt in dat Teus een lichtcompositie creëert die perfect aansluit bij het programma van NSO De Ring en ons evenement van concert naar totaalervaring tilt.
Doel 2: € 10.000
Ultieme lichtkunst inclusief De Ring van Licht
Om de totaalervaring van NSO De Ring naar het hoogste niveau te tillen, is ons plan om een ring van licht met een diameter van 22 meter (!) boven het orkest te hangen. Deze ring kan op ingenieuze manieren ingezet worden om het publiek nóg meer mee te nemen in het concert, en zorgt voor een nóg sterkere verbinding tussen de lichtkunst en Der Ring des Nibelungen.
