Met de titel no thing-ness refereer ik naar mijn werkproces en de basis van fotografie. Door te kijken naar dingen bestaan die dingen. Niets wordt iets en voor een moment bestaan ze zoals afgebeeld in dit werk.
De publicatie zal vol komen te zitten met speelse en kleurrijke beelden.

Intro
Halverwege 2019 was ik artistiek uitgeput en stond ik stil. Vanuit meditatie en verveling ben ik in mijn studio sculpturen gaan bouwen om deze vervolgens te fotografen. Tijdens de COVID19-crisis ben ik dit blijven doen en ruim 9 maanden later is er een project ontstaan: no thing-ness.

No thing-ness draait eigenlijk om de basis van kijken, de blik. Objecten of situaties worden iets waneer ze bekeken worden en op die manierje creëer je er een relatie mee. Bekeken door ogen, maar zeker door een camera. Dit mechanische oog bevriest tijd en ruimte om in dat korte moment het bestaan te erkennen. Door dit te doen zijn de voorwerpen zijn niet langer niets meer. Ik zie mijn werk als beelden die refereren aan een herkenbaarheid maar samen bouwen zij juist een nieuwe wereld. Ik hoop dat jullie nieuwsgierig zijn naar die wereld en mij de kans willen geven om deze te realiseren.

Fotoboek
De afgelopen maanden ben ik met ontwerpstudio HouseTMM bezig geweest om een nieuw fotoboek te maken. Net zoals bij mijn eerdere werk is materiaalgebruik en de presentatie hiervan van groot belang. Dit zorgt ervoor dat het fotoboek een kunstwerk op zich wordt.

Daarom heb ik samen met HouseTMM goed gekeken naar de juiste partner om dit boek mee te produceren. We hebben Lenoir Schuring als drukker gekozen omdat deze drukkerij veel ervaring heeft met het drukken van kunstboeken, daarnaast staan ze ook bekend om hun hoge kwaliteit en aandacht voor detail.

De offerte ligt klaar, het boek is print ready. Maar voor de laatste stap heb ik jullie hulp nodig, bijvoorbeeld door het boek te pre-orderen. Daarnaast kun je mij steunen door het kopen van een special edition print of een van de andere tegenprestaties.

Twee delen van 88 pagina’s (176 pagina’s totaal) het eerste deel bestaat uit gestreken hoogglans papier. Het tweede deel bestaan uit ongestreken papier. Om het omslag zit een gezeefdrukte transparante wikkel heen gevouwen.

Aanvullende informatie
Binnenkort maken we bekend waar en wanneer (volgens RIVM-richtlijnen) de boekpresentatie plaats zal vinden. Het is mogelijk om ook de tegenprestaties hier op te halen. Mocht je hier niet bij kunnen zijn is verzending geen enkel probleem.
De publicatie za naar verwachting begin/halverwege oktober uitkomen. Rond diezelfde tijd zullen de tegenprestaties ook uitkomen.

De crowdfunding zal de gehele maand september lopen.

De publicatie zal milieubewust worden geprint waarbij de CO2-voetafdruk zo veel mogelijk wordt verkleind.

Hi! Help me produce my upcoming photography publication no thing-ness by donating or pre-ordering it.
The title refers to my working process and the basis of photography. By looking at things they exist. Nothing becomes something and for a moment in time they exist as depicted in the work.
The publication will be filled with playful and colorful works.

Intro
Halfway the year 2019 I was artistically exhausted and my artistic practice was at a stop. Through meditation and boredom I started creating sculptures to photograph in my studio. I kept doing this during the COVID19-crisis and 9 months later it’s a new project: no thing-ness.

No thing-ness basically resolves around the gaze. Objects or situations become something when they’re looked at. You form a relationship with it. This happens with our eyes, but also with the mechanical eye of the camera: it freezes time and space to capture that moment. And by doing so, the object are no longer nothing. I see my work as images that reference a certain recognition while they build a new world together. I hope you’re curious for that world and you’re willing to give me a chance to realise this.

Photobook
The last couple of months me and design studio HouseTMM have been working together to design a new photography book. Just like my other work I value materialization and how it’s presented, resulting in this photobook becoming an art-piece in it’s own right.

That’s why we looked in finding the right partner to produce this photobook. We chose Lenoir Schuring as printer because they are very experienced in printing artbooks and they are well know for their quality and eye for detail.

The quotation is in and the book is ready to go to print. But for the last fase I need your help by pre-ordering the book. Or you can support me by buying a special edition print or one of the other rewards.

Containing two parts of 88 pages (a total of 176 pages) The first part consist of glossy coated paper. The second part consists of uncoated paper.
The photobook will have a plastic wrapping that will be screen-printed and folded around the cover.

Additional information
We will soon announce the date and location (according to RIVM rules) of the book presentation. You can come and pick up your book or reward here. If it's not possible for you to be there we will send it your way.
The book will be published beginning/halfway October. The rewards will also be ready then.

This crowdfunding will be during the whole month of September.

The publication will be printed environmentally conscious and we will lower the carbon footprint as much as possible.

€250 - 2x signed book + one day photography masterclass in my studio for 2 people. Including print of your best photo of that day.

€750 - the big package. I have created a work specific for this project and it will be available for a very reduced price - only during the time of the crowdfunding. It's a photograph framed in a frame with museum-glass that's been printed on. 60x80cm, digital print on Fine Art Baryta paper, uv-print on museum-glass, aluminium frame, wood veneer. Edition 1/5 and 2/5 will be available here. You will also receive 2 signed books.
