DU2020 kunstenaarspublicatie

DESTINATION UNKNOWN is een nomadische non-profit organisatie die jonge talentvolle kunstenaars een werkperiode biedt in panden die tijdelijk leeg staan; wachtend op een nieuwe eigenaar of klaar voor de sloop. Kunstenaars worden uitgedaagd te reageren op de leemte van de leegstand door site-specifiek werk te ontwikkelen.

DU strijkt elk jaar op een andere locatie neer, in gebieden waar kunst doorgaans ontbreekt. DU2016 vond plaats in Tilburg, DU2017 in Maastricht, DU2018 in Venlo en DU2019 in Weert.

Editie DU2020 kan helaas geen doorgang vinden vanwege de covid-19 pandemie. Echter, niet in de gebruikelijke vorm waarin kunstenaars drie maanden in leegstaande panden werken en deze werkperiode afsluiten met een tentoonstellingsweekend. DU wil voor editie DU2020 een alternatieve editie neerzetten in de vorm van een kunstenaarspublicatie waarbij alle 35 beeldend kunstenaars uit voorgaande edities gevraagd zal worden kunst te maken in boekvorm.

Hiermee wil DU de leemte als gevolg van de covid-19 pandemie vullen en zodoende toch bieden wat zij belangrijk acht: een platform voor jonge talentvolle kunstenaars. Om de DU2020 kunstenaarspublicatie te realiseren hebben we jouw hulp nodig.

DU2020 artist publication

DESTINATION UNKNOWN is a nomadic non-profit organisation that offers young talented artists a working period on locations which are temporarily vacant; waiting to be reclaimed by new owners or waiting to be demolished. Artists are challenged to respond to these vacancies with creative site-specific ideas and interventions, reacting on the environment of the location.

DU takes place on a different location every year, in areas where art is usually missing. DU2016 took place in Tilburg, DU2017 in Maastricht, DU2018 in Venlo and DU2019 in Weert.

DU2020 cannot take place in its usual form due to the covid-19 pandemic. For the DU2020 edition, we want to set up an alternative edition in the form of an artist publication in which all the 35 visual artists from previous editions will be asked to make art in book form. With this,

DU wants to fill the vacancy caused by the covid-19 pandemic and thus offer what it considers to be important: a platform for young talented artists. To realize theDU2020 artist publication, we need your help.
