In 2021 viert Fondation Constant met het project Constant 1 0 1dat beeldend kunstenaar Constant Nieuwenhuys (1920-2005), bekend als Constant, 101 jaar geleden geboren werd. Waar 100 jaarstaat voor een afgerond geheel waarop wordt teruggekeken, staat 101 voor de transitie naar de volgende 100 jaar. We kijken vooruit.

In de periode van mei 2021 tot en met april 2022 ontwikkelt Fondation Constant een multidisciplinair programma van projecten in samenwerking met Nederlandse musea, presentatie-instellingen, archieven, individuele makers en/of gezelschappen en opleidingen. Deze projecten zijn geworteld in Nederlanden omgeving, maar tevens sterk verbonden met het internationale discours.

Kunstenaars uit verschillende disciplines produceren nieuw werk en projecten in relatie tot beeldend kunstenaar Constant Nieuwenhuys (1920-2005). Het doel van Constant 1 0 1 is het ontsluiten van de verbinding, die bestaat, tussen cultureel erfgoed en hedendaagse makers,tussen geschiedenis en actualiteit. We geven Constants gedachtegoed door aan de toekomstige generatie; met nieuwe perspectieven, nieuw werk, nieuwe partners,nieuw publiek en wellicht nieuwe hoop.

Een van de 27 projecten is de vituele theatervoorstelling Enter New Babylon, waarbij jonge scenograven van de HKU samen met de spoken wordt performers van Poetry Circle Nowhere nieuwe New Babylons creëren om je in te verliezen.

In 2021, Fondation Constant will celebrate the fact that visual artist Constant Nieuwenhuys (1920-2005), known as Constant, was born 101 years ago. We will do this with the project Constant 1 0 1. Where a centennial stands for a complete 100 years that are looked back on, 101 represents the transition to the next 100 years. We are looking ahead.

In the period from May 2021 to April 2022, Fondation Constant develops a multidisciplinary program of projects in collaboration with Dutch museums, presentation institutions, archives, individual makers and / or companies and educational institutes. These projects are rooted in the Dutch cultural environment, but also strongly linked to the international discourse. Artists from different disciplines produce new work and projects in relation to visual artist Constant Nieuwenhuys (1920-2005).

The aim of Constant 1 0 1 is to shed light on the connection that exists between cultural heritage and contemporary makers, between history and current events. We pass Constant's ideas on to the future generation; with new perspectives, new work, new partners, new audiences and perhaps new hope.
